LANDMARK CINEMAS – Shattuck Cinemas and California Theater

The Shattuck Cinemas opened in May 1988 on the ground floor of the lovely Shattuck Hotel in downtown Berkeley, just one block from the University of California-Berkeley. It features an eclectic mix of Hollywood favorites, foreign language cinema and independent film. It is located just one block from the Downtown Berkeley BART station, convenient to the entire Bay Area, including San Francisco, only 12 miles away. Designed by Robert Ratcliff Architects in 1967, the Berkeley Art Center was built by the Rotary Club as a gift to the City of Berkeley, and was instituted as a city program until BAC adopted its private, non-profit status in the late 70s. A beautiful arts and crafts-style structure in Live Oak Park, North Berkeley with an outdoor sculpture patio featuring the work of renowned area sculptors, BAC has established itself as leading gallery presenting the work of talented regional artists in diverse media.

The Firehouse Art Collaborative (FAC), is a non profit project, directed by
Tom Franco and
Julia Lazar, providing spaces for artists to co-create currency, and a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration. FAC will be hosting installations and performances at the 2016 GLAS Animation Festival.

The UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive is the visual arts center of the University of California, Berkeley, the nation’s leading public research university.
