HEALTH AND SAFETY

Updated March 8th, 2020

Regarding the current COVID-19 outbreak:

The 5th edition of the GLAS Animation Festival is proceeding as planned. We would like to assure you that we are taking the situation seriously, monitoring it closely, and working with Public Health officials to ensure the health and well-being of attendees. At this moment, we have not received any requests from health departments to cancel the festival.

We encourage attendees to become familiar with the following the World Health Organization safety precautions which include:

W.H.O. HYGIENE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Wash your hands frequently and regularly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Wash your hands for 20 seconds or more.
  • Maintain at least 3 feet between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately and either use hand sanitizer or wash your hands after.
  • If you have a fever, a cough, or have difficulty breathing, seek medical care early.
  • If you feel unwell, stay in your hotel or at home.
  • Thoroughly cook meat and eggs and avoid unprotected contact with live animals.

ACTIVE STEPS WE ARE TAKING

  • We are working with Public Health Officials and monitoring the situation closely.
  • We have purchased personal hand sanitizers for each attendee to carry with them throughout the festival.
  • We will have hand sanitizers available at tables throughout the festival.
  • We will wipe down theater seat armrests with anti-bacterial cloths in between each screening.

STIGMA

The WHO Director-General has repeatedly called for “solidarity, not stigma” to address COVID-19.  It’s vital to fight stigma because it can drive people to hide the illness, not seek health care immediately and discourage them from adopting healthy behaviors.
